The Kiosk started as an artistic experiment as an artist-driven multifunctional kiosk in what on the map is classified as an industrial area in central Gothenburg.
Ringön, an industrial area in the midst of large changes. With inquiries about the role of art in society, and how to survive as an artist, the kiosk was built from two working containers on a parking lot on Ringön, and has since then taken on multiple projects breaching the the lines between art and society, and playing with the role of producer vs artist through incorporating the locals, and local companies in the process. Kiosken has also hosted a variety of shows by mainly Gothenburg based artists.
Kiosken strives to be functional for the local environment and its immediate surrounding, as well as to address questions about how we use and utilise our public spaces. This has later taken shape in the autonomous project 'Torget' or 'The Square' which is being developed in relation to the city's vision of the area, as well as the local property owners.
An early goal was to act in response to the change that is taking place in the area, and since that change is constant, the Kiosk also continues to change.
For any inquiries, get in touch or stop by for a coffee, a soda, or any other small consumable good that a kiosk might sell.
Welcome back, to your favourite kiosk.
